Camp Yellow Bird 2013

This year Camp Yellow Bird is celebrating 21 years of educating children and adolescents with diabetes to learn self-management skills. We have planned a special camp to mark our Anniversary. 

We are hoping that your child/ward will be able to attend from August 9-16 at Hunny Bay, St. Ann. Our theme for this year is “We are on a Mission: UNite for Diabetes”

We are also extending an invitation to all parents, guardians and friends, to attend our family day on Wednesday, August 14 commencing at 10:30 a.m   We will be inviting teachers and guidance counselors from schools across the island to attend a one-day seminar on how to cope with children with Diabetes, and we are hoping that many of the parents and guardians will be able to join us.

Camp Yellow Bird is a non-profit organization with objectives to:

  • Assist children and adolescents with diabetes to learn self-management skills.
  • Provide learning experience for their peer and parents
  • Provide a forum for children and adolescents with diabetes to live together, learn from each other, recognizing that others in their age group share their health and social problems.
  • Assist children and adolescents with diabetes to build positive self-esteem, facilitate positive learning experiences in an atmosphere of safe and clean fun.

The cost to attend camp this year is $7,100.00 which includes a non- refundable registration fee of $1,500.00 and must be paid with each application form.  If you have not registered for camp, do not turn up on August 9, 2013 , as you will not be able to attend to camp.

If you are unable to pay the camp fees, we invite you to participate in fund-raising activities to help to sponsor your child.  Please contact us immediately to make arrangements. 

Transportation Information

Transportation will leave Holy Cross Church, 77 Half Way Tree Road, Kingston 10 on Friday, August 9 at 7:30 a.m.  Each camper must arrive with a parent or other responsible adult.   Arrangements can be made for groups out-of-town to be transported from a central  location.

Pick Up

All parents/guardians are expected to collect their child/ward on Friday, August 19, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at  Hunny Bay, St. Ann or at 3:30 p.m. from Holy Cross Church.  If you are unable to pick up your child/ward at 3:30 p.m., kindly inform us in advance and an additional cost of $500.00 will be charged from Holy Cross Church to home.

WE ARE ENCLOSING A REGISTRATION FORM WITH A LIST OF ITEMS TO BRING TO CAMP.   PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE CHILDS NAME IS MARKED ON ALL THEIR BELONGINGS.

THE REGISTRATION AND MEDICAL FORMS ARE TO BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED TO US ALONG WITH PAYMENT ON OR BEFORE JULY 9, 2013.
